BEARING ROTA AND ISSUE OF GLOVES. Compiled from my own attendance. Where I did not attend, no entry is made; the society's own book is not reproduced here and remains with the society.

Column headings as kept: date, bearers rostered, bearers present, pairs issued, pairs returned, remark.

1979. Four funerals. Bearers rostered six, present six, on each occasion. Pairs issued seven, returned seven, on each occasion.

1980. Three funerals. As above in every column.

1981. Five funerals. As above in every column, except 4 February, when snow kept one man at Kirkton and five bore the coffin. Pairs issued seven. Pairs returned seven.

1982. Two funerals. As above.

1983. Four funerals. As above.

1984. Three funerals to the end of my attendance. As above.

Totals. Twenty-one funerals. Bearers present one hundred and twenty-five. Pairs issued one hundred and forty-seven. Pairs returned one hundred and forty-seven.

Remark, added when the table was typed. Seven pairs go out and seven pairs come back and six men carry. This is not a discrepancy in the society's terms, because the society does not count gloves against bearers; it counts gloves against the box, and the box balances. It is a discrepancy only in my terms, and it may be that my terms are the wrong ones to have brought.
