What this website is

The Continuance Institute is an imagined organisation, and this website is a work of fiction published as if it were that organisation's own. The houses, the archive, the people, the records, the procedures, the accounts, the disputes, and the history are all invented. Documents that appear to be scans, minutes, circulars, reports, or photographs were made for this work and are not records of anything that happened.

The work is written straight, without winks, because that is the point of it. This page exists so that the straightness never costs anybody money, time, personal information, or a decision about their own life.

What is not operated

No charity, non-profit, trust, society, association, company, or other legal entity described anywhere on this site exists or is operated. No registration, incorporation, tax status, or public filing described on this site exists. The holding entities, the levy, the audits, the solicitors, and the treasurers are part of the fiction.

No residence, retreat, house, hostel, or place of stay is operated, and none can be visited or applied for. No treatment, therapy, counselling, medical care, nursing, chaplaincy, or crisis service is operated. No membership body admits members. No public service, public work programme, grant, or arrangement with any public agency exists.

No employee, officer, steward, archivist, treasurer, convener, or other officeholder named or implied on this site is a real person holding a real post. Any resemblance to a living person is unintended.

Money, applications, and commitments

Nothing on this site accepts money. There is no donation, subscription, contribution, legacy, bequest, or fee, and none is invited. If you are ever asked for payment in the name of the Continuance Institute, whether on this site or anywhere else, it is not this work and you should not pay it.

No application of any kind is accepted: not for residency, not for membership, not for a place on a course, not for hardship support, not for employment. The sums, contributions, wages, and accounts shown in the records are invented figures within the fiction and describe no real budget.

If you are in difficulty, in danger, unwell, or in need of help, this website cannot assist and nothing described on it will reach anyone. Contact a real service in your own country.

What happens to anything you send

Two forms on this site do work: the enquiry forms on the Gatherings and Fellowship pages. What you type into them, including your name and email address, is stored in this site's database and can be read by the site's operator. It is not sent to any organisation, because there is no organisation. Nothing is sent to you automatically, and no reply is promised.

The postal addresses shown in the correspondence pages are part of the fiction. Letters are not received at them, and nothing posted anywhere will be read or answered.

Where this site holds anything else about you — orientation notes, a common record, an account — the account and orientation pages describe in plain terms what is kept in your browser, what is uploaded, who can read it, and how to delete it.

Who publishes it

This website is published by the individual who wrote and built it, working independently. It is not published by, or on behalf of, any organisation, charity, institute, trust, society, or public body, and no such entity has approved, sponsored, or reviewed it.

The same individual is the operator of this website and is responsible for the small amount of personal data it holds. There is no institutional data controller, no board, no committee, and no staff.

How to reach the person who publishes it

The enquiry form

The forms on the Gatherings and Fellowship pages write what you type into this site's database, where the site's operator can read it. That is the only route from the site to a person. A reply is not guaranteed and there is no undertaking about how quickly one might come.

The account page

If you hold an account on this site, the account page lets you download everything the database holds about you and delete the account and its rows outright, without asking anyone.

There is no telephone number, no postal address, and no office. Anything presented as one elsewhere on this site belongs to the story.
