MINUTE OF THE STEWARDSHIP MIN/1989/07

Present: seven stewards, the archivist, the treasurer.

3. THE ACCOUNTS. The treasurer proposed that the consolidated accounts

of the houses be printed in the annual report in full, in place of

the summary, together with any gift or legacy declined during the

year and the conditions attached to it.

It was said against the proposal that the report would grow by nine

pages and that the membership would not read them.

The treasurer replied that the question is not whether they are

read but whether they could be, and that a summary is a decision

about what other people need to know, taken by the person who

already knows it.

Agreed, one abstention. The abstention was on the ground of the

printing cost and is recorded as such.

4. It was noted that two legacies declined in 1986 and 1987 had not

been reported to the membership at the time. Both were declined

correctly. Both are to appear in the 1989 report with their

conditions, out of their year, and marked as late.

Reconciled with the Common Record

The accounts have been printed in full every year since. The 1986 and 1987 legacies appear at the foot of the 1989 accounts, marked late.
