Each circle holds one commitment; the number of commitments and the
number of circles are therefore the same figure and are printed twice
so that neither is mistaken for the other.
Circle hours are not added to house hours in the house columns. Where
a member is both resident and a member of a circle, the hours are
entered once, by the body that arranged the work.
Four circles returned fewer hours than in the preceding year. Two of
these hold seasonal commitments that were not called upon. No enquiry
was made of the other two, their returns being complete.
