REP/2026/03
Return of Standings and Duties Carried, Year Ending September 2025
- Kind:
- Report
- Date:
- 5 February 2026
- Origin:
- Stewardship, North House
- Access:
- Open.
The plain administrative count: separations noticed, members resuming attendance, duties carried, duties reassigned, and duties relinquished without a successor.
RETURN OF STANDINGS AND DUTIES YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2025
HOUSES CIRCLES
Periods of separation noticed 311 204
Members resuming attendance in the year 268 190
Duties carried temporarily by another 742 609
Duties reassigned outright 219 177
Duties relinquished with no successor found 14 11
Duties held by one person for over five years 103 88
Deaths of members entered in the year: 96. Duties held by those members
at the date of death: 71. Reassigned within one calendar month: 68.
The figures for separation and for resumption are not netted against
one another and no inference should be drawn from the difference. A
member may notice a separation in one year and resume in another, and
many do.
The twenty-five duties relinquished with no successor are set out by
house in the appendix. Nine of them are the same duty in nine places
and the stewardship is asked to consider whether the arrangement is at
fault rather than the members.
This return counts duties and standings. It does not count people, and
it is not to be read as a measure of participation.
Read at the stewardship meeting of 5 February 2026 and printed unamended. This return is kept on a different basis from the figures in the annual report and the two are not to be added together.
