SPINE, DIAGRAMMATIC. Drawn from the bench measurements of 12 and 14 October 1993. Not drawn from the object, which was returned on 20 December 1993.

Stations, sewn, measured from the head: 34, 71, 108, 145, 182 millimetres. Interval throughout 37 millimetres.

Impressions in the lining, measured from the head: 27, 58, 89, 120, 151, 182 millimetres. Interval throughout 31 millimetres.

The two series meet at the tail and nowhere else. This follows from the arithmetic and is not a finding.

Note beneath the drawing, in the same hand: a diagram is not a proof. This one is a record of six numbers and five numbers, taken by me, with a rule I have since replaced. Anyone who wishes to check it will require the volume.

Second note, undated, in the same hand and a different ink: I am asked what I think. I think a binder laid out six and sewed five, and that this happens, and that a person who is not a binder will find it remarkable. That is the whole of my opinion and it should not be quoted as more.

Held at the North House with the rest of the deposit. The original is a pen drawing on tracing paper, kept flat. The measurements are transcribed here as written.
