4. 1. A rota is a recurring practical obligation which another person may✎
5. rely upon. It is not an office, a title, or a standing. Nothing✎
6. follows from holding one except the work.✎
8. 2. A rota is agreed between the member and the steward of the house or✎
9. the convener of the circle. The agreement is entered in one line:✎
10. the duty, its cadence, the date it begins, and the previous holder.✎
12. 3. A member may revise a rota, share it, suspend it for a season, or✎
13. hand it back, by saying so. No reason is asked for and none is✎
14. entered.✎
16. 4. No rota is permanent. A rota held for more than five years is✎
17. raised at the annual meeting, not because the holder has done badly✎
18. but because a duty only one person can perform is a duty the house✎
19. has already lost.✎
