Local history

Formed in 2010 by members of the Halifax and Saint John gatherings who had moved for work. Recognised in 2011. The repair calls began the same year and are booked by the tenants' service, never by the circle.

The outward obligation

Repair and restoration

Household repair calls, held with a tenants' support service.

Small repairs in rented housing where the landlord has not answered: draught stripping, latches, taps, and steps.

The forms it carries

  • The Quiet Twelve

    Twelve minutes are kept before the reading. Nothing is assigned to the silence.

  • The Repair Table

    A table, a bench, or a marked shelf where ordinary objects wait to be mended.

Local variation. The reading is given in French and English on alternate weeks; the twelve minutes are kept in neither.
