Local history

Recognised in 2004. The repair café was already running when the circle formed around it, which is unusual and which the reviewing steward examined carefully before recommending recognition.

The outward obligation

Repair and restoration

Repair café, held with a district neighbourhood association.

A monthly public bench for household electricals, clocks, and instruments. Nothing is charged and nothing is advertised beyond a card in the window.

  • The Quiet Twelve

    Twelve minutes are kept before the reading. Nothing is assigned to the silence.

  • The Repair Table

    A table, a bench, or a marked shelf where ordinary objects wait to be mended.

  • The Weather Entry

    Before the first shared meal of the month, one person writes the weather in the house book.
